St. James
St. James - facade:
both it and Bonamy House were originally painted white with lime paint that matched the limestone details. Gleaming white buildings on top of the hill, with little but orchards around them. Elizabeth College (being in the Gothic Revival style) was not painted.

The fluted portion is drawn roman cement made with a running mould on a brick core, capital appears to be from a sort of roman cement 'compo', whilst the moulding above is dawn roman cement on a wooden frame:
